"In The Field" is a weekly podcast with Dr. Monette and the Fieldlab team. This show is for the curious, life-long learner looking for truth in health and a blueprint for reconnecting to nature. You can access the latest episodes on Spotify, Apple Podcast, Youtube, Rumble or by signing up for Fieldlab Mighty Networks.
Ep.001: What is Fieldlab? The Origin StoryFieldlab's journey was paralleled by Dr. Alison's own personal and professional transformation. Listen along as she walks through the key moments that opened her eyes to the bigger picture and how she ultimately unlearned to relearn in order to deliver the message of health through Fieldlab.
Ep. 004: Autoimmunity Explained - Why your Environment Matters & Why Everyone Should CareAutoimmunity is on the rise—and the population in which this is happening is getting younger and younger. This is a troubling trend if you understand what this means about the state of human health, the environment we’ve created for ourselves and the long-term, species-level implications.
Ep. 007: Your Nervous System Isn't Broken. Your Environment Is.We are told repeatedly that our nervous systems are dysfunctional, dysregulated, hypersensitive or burned out. We are told that all you need is a reset, rewire or reprogram your nervous system, you will finally find your health. But the real role of the nervous system is an interface between you and the environment. A biophysical, decentralized network responsible for transforming energy and information into action and adaptation. By excluding the deeper story from the conversation, we’ve forgotten that our bodies aren’t broken. It’s the environment that’s broken.
Ep. 010: Healing Isn't LinearPeople have the perception that healing is always linear; a straight-line; a constant progression toward the goal of health. Many believe that as long as you do what you should be doing to “heal,” you will continue to feel better; therefore, you must be healing. If you aren’t feeling better, you aren’t healing and it’s because you’re not actually doing it or you're doing the wrong protocol. That simple.
Unfortunately, none of these concepts are based in reality. It’s not what we see day-to-day in our work with patients and members in the field and it isn’t how the process of true healing works. Ep. 013: Movement vs Exercise - What Actually Builds True HealthIn this episode, we explore the difference between exercise and movement, why more exercise isn't always better, and how your environment, redox potential, and overall health determine whether exercise supports or depletes your body. We discuss our own journeys from CrossFitters to rethinking what it means to move well, why some people feel worse despite exercising every day, why some people only feel good if they exercise and why movement—not structured workouts—may be a better strategy for building true health.
Ep. 016: Peptides - Health Breakthrough or Borrowed Time?In a unique and unprecedented moment of alignment, we are being told by doctors, influencers and the government alike that peptides are the future of medicine–and health more broadly. Despite universal agreement amongst the “experts,” the real world results and the positive marketing, many people are still conflicted and confused, wondering: Is this right? At what cost? Are peptides actually producing true health or are they simply borrowing time? Dr. Alison combines clinical experience with biophysical wisdom to provide clarity on the topic and answer these questions.

Ep. 002: Cholesterol is part of what makes us humanIn our first topic-specific episode we tackle one of the most (if not THE most) common topics we are asked about by patients and members: Cholesterol. We set out to blow up this paradigm and turn fear into appreciation of cholesterol as part of what make us human
Ep. 005: Cholesterol Revisited - Community Questions, Nature's Answers. In this episode, Dr. Alison revisits the topic of cholesterol, this time guided entirely by you — the Fieldlab community — based on the overwhelming response we received after our first cholesterol episode. Your forum posts, poll responses, and questions became the roadmap for this follow-up, making this one of the most community-driven episodes we've produced.
Ep. 008: Does The Sun Cause Skin Cancer? The Biophysics Truth.Sunlight is a point of major confusion, contention and fear in today’s world. We’ve been taught that UV light is deleterious to humans and that a single sunburn spells disaster for your future health. In this episode we talk about the historical and scientific framework upon which the fear of sunlight is built and walk through the impact of disconnecting chronically, what it looks like when a human is built on artificial frequencies, the truth behind skin cancer and how to begin reconnecting with natural light in a way that is wise.
Ep. 011: Do Calories Matter? We’ve been taught there is a caloric equilibrium–a perfect balance between what is required and what is consumed; taught that there is a universal caloric requirement that never changes; and taught that everything you need to know about food can be found on a nutrition label.
Our bold statement is this: creating a calorie culture was a major disservice to our understanding of human function, the role of food and how to maintain or restore health. Biophysically, calories are not a useful model and looking at food and human function purely from an energetic perspective is a half-truth. Ep. 014: Healing Isn't Linear (Part 2) - What Summer Is Really ForWe now find ourselves in the period between the Summer Solstice and the Fall Equinox. This is a unique moment–the days are getting shorter, the nights are getting longer and the UV frequencies are getting stronger. We explore the changing environment–how the light-dark cycle shifts, what frequencies predominate and how to shape your day in a way that fully harnesses the opportunity.

Ep. 003: The Two Languages of Health—Biochemistry vs. BiophysicsDr. Alison takes us into the field, visiting both territories—biochemistry and biophysics. What you will come away with is a map of the territory that will help guide you in your health journey, whether your goal is to restore or maintain your health, restore the health of a loved one or simply to deepen your knowledge and understanding of how nature operates.
Ep. 006: The Real Reason You Think You Need To Detox In this episode, we head “into the field” with Dr. Alison who brings 20 years of clinical perspective to this conversation. She watched the modern detox trend evolve in real time — from its roots in her medical training, through its use as a cornerstone of her early medical practice, to the moment she abandoned it entirely. That shift came when she recognized that biophysics — not biochemistry — is the true foundation of human function and health.
Ep. 009: Is Perimenopause Normal? The Circadian Biology Answer.Perimenopause is a major conversation we are having in the field on a daily basis. Women are struggling; experiencing irregular periods/ menstrual cycles, hormonal imbalances, poor energy, difficulty sleeping, inability to lose weight and infertility. We talk about why we should all be paying attention to this trend; what drives and controls the female reproductive cycle; and how the modern environment is disrupting proper circadian timekeeping, driving redox collapse and creating what we call perimenopause.
Ep. 012: Food Isn't Just Fuel - It's InformationFood is central to the conversation around health in the modern world. Within that conversation, food is understood exclusively through the narrow lens of energy, nutrients and biochemistry. A paradigm given to us by many decades of biochemical-based, centralized science. In today’s episode, we are here to push back and expand your perspective on food and health in general. Our bold statement is that food goes beyond energy, macro/micronutrients, and biochemistry. Food is information.
Ep. 015: Weight Loss Isn't LinearIn this episode, we push back on the modern paradigm around weight and take the bold stance that our modern ideas around weight–loss, gain or stability–are fundamentally flawed. In reality, weight is a function of the environment. It’s part of what makes us flexible and adaptable. There’s a season for healthy weight loss. A season for healthy weight gain. And a deeper story related to body composition, health and longevity.
